Bloomberg says Potanin Russia’s richest man, takes position 51

MOSCOW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- Bloomberg has revised its top 500 world billionaire index with Russian tycoon Vladimir Potanin occupying the 51 position, having an estimated wealth of U.S. $16.6 billion, according to a report seen by PRIME on March 5.

Potanin is one of the key owners and head of metals producer Norilsk Nickel.

The other Russians in the top 100 are: the main owner of steelmaker Severstal Alexei Mordashov is 54th on the list with $16.5 billion, the main owner of multi-industry holding Renova Viktor Vekselberg is 62th with $14.8 billion, the founder of USM Holdings Alisher Usmanov is 70th with $13.9 position.

Chairman of the board of directors of Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) Vladimir Lisin is 71th with $13.9 billion, Alfa-Group consortium shareholder Mikhail Fridman is 74th with $13.4 billion, and the main owner of fertilizer producer EuroChem Andrei Melnichenko is 100th with $11.6 billion.

Bloomberg said it calculates the income of businessmen, basing on the share price and data in reports of the companies they own. Sometimes a ratio between capitalization and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) or between the share price and earnings per share.
